Betty Jordan and her husband have been operating Jordan's Natural Acres farm on the Gaspereau Mountain since 1995, but the farm has been operated by the family since 1911. Their son Tyler is the 4th generation in their family to work on the farm "It is not starting so much as it is continuing. We both grew up on farms and love growing good food and raising animals. We scaled up the operation so that we could offer more to customers looking for this type of product" said Betty Jordan.
Shortly after, in 2011, they started with us here at the Wolfville Farmers' Market and have been a vendor ever since! They also joined WFM2Go this year with their beef, chicken, and pork products.
"Jordans natural acres is a fourth generation family run operation. We all work together to bring the delicious, humanly and ethically raised products to you the consumer. Everything we sell is grown on our farm."
Their products include grass fed beef, pasture raised poultry, forest grown and free range pork. At the farmers' market you can find their free range and pasture raised delicious eggs.
Their beef is grass fed from the beginning through to harvest. All of the meat they grow is processed at a provincially inspected facility within minutes of our farm.
"We believe in regenerative practices and are not a fully regenerative farm but are working toward that goal. We believe in transparency and educating people on how we do things. We are passionate and proud small farmers."
Their Farming Practices
At Jordan's, humane and ethical treatment of livestock is essential. They believe in holistic management and being transparent about how they farm. They work to encourage pollinators, beneficial insects and biodiversity on their farm. They do not use any spray or chemical fertilizer and do a very limited amount of tillage and try to reduce this practice further with soil conservation in mind.
What their customers are saying:
"Our one-stop shop for pastured meats in NS. Other farms specialize in one or two meats, Jordan's does beef, pork, chicken, and eggs with superior quality. They're animal rearing is top quality and as humane and sustainable as I've found in the province. Not to mention, they're lovely people who are willing to deliver to nearby regions. By far the best meat farm we've bought from in NS." - Christopher
