Thursday, February 21st: National CSA Day
Tomorrow is National CSA Day! I am not sure if you've heard or not, but we are adding Olde Furrow Farms' CSA to WFM2Go this year! A CSA runs a bit different than WFM2Go because you are investing in the farmers' growing season and harvesting the benefits (a little farm pun for you 😉). Read more about their CSA below!
I also wanted to make a note about the kale that went out this week! When the kale came in from the farmer, I was a bit concerned because it was a little bit floppy and yellow on the edges. So, I asked the farmer what was up and I learned something new! Kale can be harvested in super cold weather, but when it is, the water is in the stems which means the leaves get a bit floppy. However, kale harvested at these cold temps that has been frozen is extra sweet - making for the tastiest kale of the season! Additionally, the kale this time of year is a wee bit yellow. This is because the kale is grown in tunnels with low light this time of year, so it isn't able to turn that bright green that you are used too. So, although the kale may look a little off, it might just be the tastiest kale you've had all year! Did you know all of this? I sure didn't!
Have a great weekend,
Lindsay & WFM2Go Team
